Digital story

Objective:
Create a Digital Story using IMovie - Create a digital story that can be used as a learning tool for students who learn through auditory and visual means. The finished product should relate to a Virginia Department of Education Standard of Learning.

VA SOL Addressed: English, Kindergarten  K.2 The student will expand understanding and use of word meanings. d) Use words to describe/name location, size, color, and shape.

How would I use this digital story in my classroom?
The main purpose of this digital story is to teach the students the names of the shape in an exciting and interactive manner. Students can listen to this video and look at the pictures associated with each shape to help them remember the name and the shape in anything around them. This video would help them understand and be able to identify in a different type of shape.

Online Learning

In today's society, online learning class is increasing because of nowaday technology involved with almost everything in human life. Online learning is another option for an educational program. Online learning in Virginia K-12 is going to be increasing because of online education powered by K12 means, your student can go to school wherever there's an internet connection. In fact, the K12-powered virtual school in Virginia offers a choice beyond traditional brick-and-mortar schooling, but both share some common characteristics. Like a brick-and-mortar public school, a K12-powered online education in Virginia follows the traditional academic calendar, state-licensed teachers provide instruction, and counselors and school staff are on hand to offer help. And, just like a traditional public school, all of this is tuition-free.

Some parents choose online learning. For example, Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA) for their children because the program is very flexible. They feel that their children get an overall better education through the program that the local public schools. One of the most reasons that they chose to enroll their kids is a safety issue. The program allows them the ability to school in a different location and lets the parents be more" hand-on" when it comes to their children's education. For the staff, they are also said that staff has almost always been easy to reach and helpful. I think this is one of the reasons why they chose online school learning for their children.

Inquiry and Primary Sources

I was introduced to inquiry-based learning and primary sources when I was an ESL student at Columbia College about the constitution. Before then,  I never know about a primary or secondary resource was. When I was in high school, I was introduced to primary sources at the museum by going to field trips with all of my friends in school but at that time I don't even know what is the point of going to a field trip with school. Until I watched the video about how the difference between a primary source and secondary sources.

As a future teacher, I would introduce my kindergarten students to the primary source of the American flag in the past between 1865-1867. and the present of the American flag. I would use inquiry-construct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wptvnpr-gFU&feature=youtu.be I would show students a picture of the past American flag and the present one and let them compare between both flags. In the activity, students will learn about an important national symbol: the American flag. Students will analyze an image of an American flag from the post-Civil War era (1865-7) and compare its details (i.e., the stars and stripes) to those of our nation’s flag today. After completing the activity, students will be able to identify the American flag as a national symbol, analyze details of this symbol,l compare two different versions of the American flag.

In conclusion, I experienced some inquire -based leaning when the teacher encouraged us to make observations, ask questions on what we were doing, reflect, and evaluate. I think having a powerful primary source with a hands-on activity where students can understanding the content easily and enjoy the class lesson.
